Debevoise uses digitally created images of words that pull the viewer in and invite participation via interpretation. He uses words and word fragments as a postmodern provocateur, calling for contemplation and displacement at once.
There is the tendency to try to make sense of the form presented, and like much of Debevoise's work, a picture functions like a Rorschach, inviting comparison, confusion, or a welcomed, giddy ambiguity. His desire to fuse words, images, color and movement serves to stir the senses and challenge conventional perceptions of language and meaning.
