Are we leaving a time when, above all, art had to be new? It had to plumb the depths of its medium, be essential: modernism. Then it could be a copy, catalogue: postmodernism. One Truth to individual truths. Analog to digital modes. How about interesting, fun, beautifully true?

Code is the essence of what we can do with computers. Like Marx said, "we can't have a future we haven't imagined," so someone writes the code first. It used to be an artist owed no debt but to God and nature... now generations of programmers? Anyway, humility and gratitude are of the essence. No need to think more than we already do.

I just sit down and see an image, usually above to the right and start writing it with stylus on tablet, making and erasing differing marks with transparency slider, checking and picking colors from a wheel with luminosity slider. Deciding when to stop. For now.

Because we are taught to read phonetically, art with words activates subvocalations (more than usual) as well as vision. Interactive by default, framed or not, art defines spaces for us. It can solve problems. Even produce epiphany.
